First Artwork of Pixar "The Good Dinosaur " Movie, and more

You may have heard about Pixar future animated movie called "The Good Dinosaur" directed by Bob Peterson - co-director on UP! - which will be released on May 30, 2014. The story line is exciting: "What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?" Pixar has now released a first artwork for it - the one above. sure, we don't see a lot except a dinosaur in counter-light but more should come soon.

Also posted by Comingsoon.net an artwork for Pete Docter's Untitled Pixar movie that takes you inside the mind, to be released on June 19, 2015 and described as follows: From director Pete Docter ("Up," "Monsters, Inc.") and producer Jonas Rivera ("Up"), the inventive new film will take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind.

Another Pixar artwork, for a not yet titled animated movie about the "Dia de Los Muertos", scheduled for 2016. Director is Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson, who did the successful "Toy Story 3".

Let me know on D&M Facebook page which one you're awaiting the most!

Editor's Note: I've edited the Shanghaî Disneyland article with a previous plan that Luke from Luke and Temple of fun sent to me, showing clearly that an hotel is envisioned near the park entrance and close tho the bottom of SDL Adventureland. The others plans have also been replaced with the same ones but in bigger size.

Full Plan of Shanghaî Disneyland Resort - Edited

Since two months real plans of different Shanghaî Disneyland areas are released. I'm not talking here about the one of the park itself, which was leaked, but others SDL areas like hotels, dining and entertainment zone, bus station, and more recently, SDL lakeside.

The truth is that these plans are not only the official ones but are also released offically. Why? Because there is a process in China that allows the people to give their advice to whatever decisions the government makes. And these plans are released for this purpose, which mean that you can actually send emails to Shendi - the SDL company - to present your advice... as long as you are Chinese and write your advice in Chinese.

Luke, from Luke and the Temple of Fun website, succeeded to find each plan ( the reason why few people find these plans is because only the Chinese version of the website release them ) and posted them when each of them were released. But recently he had the good idea to put them all together, according of what we previously knew of the SDL plan, and adding to these official plans the plan of the park leaked a few months ago. So far, and until the final plan of the park will be released, it's the most complete SDL plan we've seen.

In his last post Luke - counting the free spaces around the lake - thinks that Shanghaî Disneyland may have up to six hotels when the resort will be complete. But Luke also counts the free land at the bottom of SDL Adventureland which in my opinion might be reserved to expand the land or create a new land. However, it's true that a hotel in this location would be fine, so let's count it.

I'm not surprised that only two hotels will be built at the start - the WDC didn't forgot what they learned the hard way when they did the mistake to have seven hotels opened from day one at DLP - but i'm more surprised that only one hotel on the two will be located around the lake - as the "budget" hotel will apparently be located outside the park, more or less behind the Toy Story land area. I suppose they're keeping the most interesting locations - the ones around the lake - for more expensive hotels, which makes sense on a certain point of view.

Edited 1/5: Luke, From Luke and the Temple of Fun sent me this other plan which show clearly that an hotel is in fact envisioned near the park in the space available at the bottom of Adventureland. So, may be SDL will have six hotels, after all.

Another SDL news, interesting: "an exclusive Metro line serving Shanghai Disneyland visitors will be built and put into service in 2015, the same year the amusement park opens to the public.

The new line is a 9.15-kilometer extension of Metro Line 11, starting from Luoshan Road Station in Pudong and ending at the Disney Resort with three stations in between. The Shanghaî Disneyland Station will feature cartoon figures, such as Mickey Mouse. Passengers can enjoy the park's views through large vaults of the semi-underground station".

According to a report in Jiefang Daily the project has been approved by authorities, which in China is almost the most important!

Four people hurt in a Disneyland Paris Railroad accident

Bad news from Disneyland Paris as four people were hurt in a DLP Railroad accident, but no one is dead:

AFP - Four people have been treated for minor injuries after a wagon broke off from a steam engine ride at Disneyland Paris, the theme park and police said on Thursday.

The four, including a pregnant woman and a 13-year-old girl, were taken to hospital after the accident on the five-wagon Disneyland Railroad ride at 8:40 pm (1940 GMT) on Wednesday, a police source said.

The source said the accident occurred after a bolt snapped between the first and second wagons of the train, sending the engine and one wagon ahead of the others as they approached the terminal.

The three rear wagons struck the first section when it stopped at the end of the line.

About 40 people were inside the train, which tours the theme park, at the time of the accident.

A spokesman for the Euro Disney company, which operates the park, said the train ride was closed on Thursday and that the incident was minor.

"It was a small nudge," the spokesman said, adding that one wheel of the train had come off the rails.

The spokesman said those injured were out of hospital and had returned home or continued their stay at the theme park.

He said the accident had occurred at a "very slow speed" and said the train normally travelled at eight kilometres per hour (five miles per hour) when it was returning to the station.

Disneyland Paris, which marked its 20th anniversary in 2012, took in a record 16 million visitors last year but continues to report big losses after taking on significant levels of debt.

Cars Land Float at 2013 Rose Parade in Pasadena !

The annual Rose Parade happened yesterday January 1st in Pasadena and the Cars Land float - the longest ever done by Disney for this parade - was of course part of the parade. Here is a selection of videos, and don't miss all the animated elements on the float. They did a pretty good job, but personally i think that the music was terrible...

First and short video showing the float moving in Pasadena.

Another video showing the other side of the float.

You'll get an up-close look at animated details of the float in this next one.

Last but not least this next video is a good behind the scenes inside the facility where the float was built!

Universal Studios Japan "The Gift of Angels" Christmas Show

I suggest that we end this Christmas season with this amazing show called "the Gift of Angels" at Universal Studios Japan that i discovered thanks to Screamscape. Universal did a real good job on this show which is a mix of video projections on buildings facades with live actors. If someone at DLP is watching this video and can forward  the link to DLP Entertainment division that might be a good thing as there is some good ideas in this show which might interest them... Nice Christmas show, really!

Editor's Note: A good news to begin the year as Bob Iger confirmed to Bloomberg that Marvel theme parks ( or lands )  are coming at Disney Parks in California
( Disneyland or in a third theme park ), China ( very probably at HKDL and Shanghai Disneyland ), Japan ( TDL if they have the room ) and France ( DLP Walt Disney Studios ). But not in Florida of course because of the exclusivity that Universal have for Marvel rides in any Universal park "East of the Mississippi" as it is written in the contract between Universal and Marvel signed many years ago. So, all you have to do is being patient as it might take sometime ( or years ) but Marvel rides and lands are coming for sure in Disney Parks.

2013 New Year's Eve at Disney Parks Around the World !

Hello everyone! Hope that you all had an amazing New Year's Eve! Let's begin the year by having a look at the 2013 New Year's Eve celebrations at Disney theme parks around the world! Which Magic Kingdom had the best firework, have a look at the videos first and let us know!

Japan and Tokyo Disneyland - picture above - was the first one to enter 2013 and as usual they did a great job with a great firework, including amazing firework special affects. I also like the pre-firework sequence when all TDL guests sang "Auld Lang Syne" - i didn't knew it was that known in Japan! Exceptionally for New Year's Eve Tokyo Disneyland closed at 6pm, reopened at 8pm... and closed at 7am on January 1st!

Next was Hong Kong Disneyland,  only a short video of it as no other available for now...

Then it was time for Disneyland Paris to enter 2013 with a countdown and firework over the castle!

First park in the United States to enter 2013 was WDW Magic Kingdom! And this next video was filmed from the top deck of the Ferry Boat docked at the TTC, on the other side of the Seven Seas Lagoon.

California was the last to enter 2013, and so were Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure! We'll start with Disneyland and this next video was shot down Main Street U.S.A.

At California Adventure too guests celebrated 2013 with a countdown and firework over Paradise Pier lagoon as well as World of Color fountains.

So, which one was the best? It's hard to say but personally i give the award to Tokyo Disneyland for its great firework with firework special effects! Happy new year again to everyone and see you soon for new great posts!

Happy New Year To All Disney and more Readers !

That's it, 2012 will end tonight and 2013 will enter on stage tomorrow! I send my best wishes of happiness to all of you and wish to you and your family my very best for this new year! And, as there can't be a New Year's Eve without fireworks i thought that this great artwork of DLP Sleeping Beauty castle at night with fireworks over the castle from WDI artist Nina Rae Vaughn was a perfect choice. This artwork, by the way, is part of the great Disneyland Paris, From Sketch to Reality book on which today and tomorrow there is an amazing "New Year special price" - see the post below.

As for Disney Parks, it will be hard to have a year as great as 2012 was. With the new Disney California Adventure Buena Vista Street and Cars Land, WDW New Fantasyland and Little Mermaid, Story Book Circus and Be My Guest restaurant, Epcot new Test Track version, Disney Hollywood Studios Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow, Disney Animal Kingdom Wild Africa Trek, DLP Disney Dreams show, HKDL Grizzly Gulch, TDS Fantasmic and Toy Story Mania, Disney's Aulani in Hawai, WDW Disney's Art of Animation Resort, and the new Disney Dreams ship, 2012 has been phenomenal and probably the biggest year ever in terms of new and impressive additions in Disney theme parks. Believe me, 2012 will be hard to beat and we won't see the same each year.

Never mind, i'm sure that 2013 will be a great year and again, i wish to all of you the very best and a magical evening!
